The Trail Mix Off-Road Duathlon will return to the Atwood Park trail system on Sunday, October 4, 2026, bringing endurance athletes and outdoor enthusiasts together for a unique race experience to support of local trail building efforts.

The annual event features a rugged and fast-paced duathlon format consisting of a trail run, mountain bike segment, and a final trail run, designed to challenge participants while showcasing some of the best off-road terrain in the Rockford area. A shorter “Half Mix” option is also available, making the event accessible to a wide range of athletes.

Following the duathlon, there will be a 10-mile and 20-mile mountain bike race, consisting of multiple laps of the race course, full of fun and flowy Midwest singletrack trails.

What sets Trail Mix apart is its direct impact on the local cycling and outdoor community. All proceeds from the event go toward trail development and maintenance at Rock Cut State Park and the Atwood trail system, helping expand and improve access for riders and runners throughout the region.

New for 2026, Trail Mix will introduce “Fastest Lap” prizes for both the run and bike segments, adding an extra competitive element for participants looking to test their speed on specific portions of the course.

The event is supported by a strong group of local sponsors, including Trek Rockford, Kegel’s Bikes, Dairyhaus, Ikon Electric, Fountain Construction, Aaron Branding, Olson Funeral Home, SuperCell CrossFit, and Loves Park Chiropractic, all of whom play a key role in making the race and its community impact possible.
